Why are we drawn to homemade masks?
Because they’re a ritual, not just a treatment. A homemade mask gives you 20 minutes to yourself, a chance to unplug from your devices and feel like you’re taking care of yourself. And adding essential oils turns the treatment into a mini spa ritual right in the kitchen.

Which essential oils are considered soothing?

Lavender is a classic anti-stress remedy; it reduces irritation and relaxes.

Chamomile gently reduces inflammation and is suitable even for sensitive skin.

Geranium balances and slightly tones, leaving a feeling of freshness.

Sandalwood helps reduce dryness and redness.

It’s important to remember: essential oils are never applied to the skin in their pure form. They must be diluted in a carrier oil (such as jojoba or almond).

Example of a basic soothing mask recipe

2 tbsp. Plain yogurt (cools and nourishes).

1 teaspoon honey (softens).

1 drop lavender oil + 1 drop chamomile oil, diluted in 1 teaspoon jojoba oil.

Mix, apply to face for 15 minutes, rinse with warm water.

Can everyone use essential oils?
No. Sensitive skin may experience a reaction, so it’s best to test on a small area first. Pregnant women and people with allergies should be especially careful.

What does this mask do besides care for your skin?
Emotional relief. The aromas affect the nervous system, help reduce stress, and promote better sleep. This doesn’t replace creams with peptides and antioxidants, but it adds that “emotional value to care.”
